Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a fire door and a standard metal door?

A fire door uses an insulated core and a tested door-and-frame assembly to hold back fire for a set period, while a standard metal door is built mainly for security and durability.

How often should a fire escape door be inspected?

Fire doors should be checked at least once a year, including the frame, hinges, closer and overall operation. MEK can advise on maintenance.
