Description
A face and bypass damper is an assembly of two mechanically linked dampers fitted at an air handling unit coil: the face damper passes air across the coil while the bypass damper diverts air around it. By blending the two airstreams, the system controls supply-air temperature precisely without throttling the coil. Available from MEK Uganda for commercial and industrial AHUs.
Key Features
- Two linked blade sections in a single unit
- Available in FB, FBH and FBR configurations
- Blends coil and bypass air for accurate supply-air temperature control
- Works in both heating and cooling modes
- Supports fail-safe strategies such as freeze protection and preheat control
- Compatible with averaging temperature sensors where space is limited
Applications
- Air handling units in commercial buildings, hotels and shopping centres
- Industrial AHUs and process air systems
- Systems needing coil freeze protection or preheat control
- Energy-efficient heating and cooling upgrades
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the face and bypass dampers?
The face damper controls air passing through the coil; the bypass damper controls air flowing around it. They are linked so that as one opens the other closes.
Which configurations are available?
MEK offers face and bypass dampers in FB, FBH and FBR configurations.
Does it need professional installation?
Yes. Correct sensor placement, installation and calibration are important, so consultation with an HVAC professional is recommended.
