Description
An inlet vane damper, also called a variable inlet vane (VIV) damper, is fitted at the inlet of a fan, blower or air handling unit and adjusts the angle of a ring of vanes to control how much air the equipment draws in. MEK inlet vane dampers, available from MEK Uganda, give demand-based airflow control with lower energy use in HVAC and industrial process systems.
Key Features
- Multiple adjustable vanes regulate air volume at the fan inlet
- Airfoil-shaped vanes rotating on a central axis
- Damper housing typically of galvanised steel
- Manual, automatic (linked to sensors and controls) or combined actuation
- Open, closed and partially open positions
- Supports energy savings, demand-based ventilation, lower noise and process control
Applications
- Commercial HVAC fans and air handling units
- Industrial HVAC in factories
- Dust collection systems
- Fume exhaust systems
- Process air systems
- Power plants
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a variable inlet vane damper?
It is another name for an inlet vane damper: a device that adjusts vanes at a fan inlet to control the volume of air entering the fan.
How does an inlet vane damper save energy?
By reducing the air the fan draws in when full capacity is not needed, it supports demand-based ventilation and lowers energy use and noise.
What should I consider when selecting one?
