Description
A fire and smoke damper is a safety device installed in HVAC ductwork where it passes through fire walls, floors and smoke barriers; on detecting heat or smoke it closes automatically to contain fire and smoke within one zone. At fire walls, floor penetrations, smoke barriers and other critical points in the ductwork, with clear access for inspection, testing and maintenance.
How is a fire damper activated?
By heat through a fusible link, by a smoke detector, or by an electrical signal from the building’s fire alarm system.
